Job summary

Cornell University is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to join CALS Facilities Operations on the Ithaca campus. You will manage 10–15 major academic buildings, covering 400,000–600,000 sq ft, and coordinate with university trades, FCS, and campus stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant operation.

The role emphasizes collaboration, proactive maintenance oversight, and participation in renovation and construction projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of facilities management experience.
• Experience with institutional building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to advocate for facilities needs and develop procedures and policies.
• Ethical judgment, self-directed work, and effective prioritization.
• Capable of handling sensitive information and coordinating across teams.
• Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience working with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Respond to corrective and emergency facility maintenance issues; coordinate with stakeholders and trades.
• Schedule and notify about utility interruptions.
• Provide operational support for emergencies and building system failures.
• Advise stakeholders on environmental, safety, and code inspections.
• Monitor services and ensure SLA compliance.
• Oversee and track keys distribution.
• Support Building Assessment program and maintain the FPNMS priority list.
• Oversee installation/removal of furniture and equipment.
• Participate in construction and renovation projects; prepare bids.
• Ensure building occupants follow codes and communicate work impacts.
• Use discretion and maintain professional conduct.
• Support continuous improvement in documentation and communications across CALS.
