Job summary

Chaves County is seeking an at-will, supervisory maintenance leader to manage all county facilities, grounds, and related budgets. This role develops the preventative maintenance program and oversees maintenance management software and building control systems.

You will supervise staff, prepare budgets and reports, and coordinate with the Public Services Director on projects, safety, and compliance. A strong background in facilities management is required.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED, plus 6+ years in multi-facility maintenance and 4+ years supervisory experience.
• Experience Substitution: Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licenses: Valid NM driver’s license, clean driving record, security training, and familiarity with maintenance software and building control systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all staff in the Facility Maintenance Department.
• Develop and manage the department’s budget and requisitions.
• Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance projects and repairs.
• Prepare cost estimates and write specifications for contracted work.
• Oversee building control systems and energy conservation efforts.
• Maintain compliance with state and county policies and reporting requirements.
