Job summary

The Ankeny Community School District is seeking an Operations & Custodial Manager to lead custodial staff across assigned facilities and ensure clean, safe, and well‑maintained spaces. Working with the Operations Coordinator, you will set expectations, schedule workloads, and drive timely maintenance and repairs.

You will oversee training, safety compliance, and equipment inventories while coordinating with district administrators to support district operations.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of custodial experience with two years in an educational environment, preferred.
• Experience in supervision of custodial/maintenance staff, preferred.
• Knowledge of custodial practices, cleaning methods, equipment, supplies, and procedures to maintain clean, safe facilities.
• Ability to lead and supervise custodial staff; establish clear expectations; provide feedback; address performance concerns; promote accountability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee personnel management functions for assigned custodial staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, hiring, staffing, and disciplinary actions.
• Communicate expectations clearly and consistently; address personnel concerns; promote accountability and teamwork.
• Lead and supervise custodial personnel in accordance with district policies, the master contract, and applicable laws.
• Develop and coordinate staff schedules, work assignments, and coverage plans to ensure efficient use of personnel.
• Plan and oversee summer custodial staffing to support construction projects and operational needs.
