Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across properties in the Washington, DC area. You will assist engineers and maintenance staff with major tasks, conduct inspections, and ensure safety and compliance across sites.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in stationary engineering or related fields, and flexibility for scheduled shifts, potential overtime, and weekend

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in stationary engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or related building maintenance.
• Ability to repair building systems using common tools and instruments.
• Excellent English communication and basic arithmetic skills.
• Reliable, with regular shift adherence and flexibility for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems in assigned properties.
• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance per manufacturer specs and document actions.
• Respond to tenant and property management service requests promptly through the service system.
• Conduct general building maintenance and minor repairs (re-lamping, plumbing, locksmithing, painting).
• Inspect mechanical, common, and vacant spaces; keep areas clean, safe, and organized.
• Maintain accurate logs and forms in paper and electronic systems; ensure compliance with manuals.
• Follow Employee Manual, Operations Manual, safety guidelines, and company practices.
