• Keep leadership honest with numbers they can act on.
• Earn the trust to make thoughtfully-bold judgment calls without a committee.
• Question the brief when the brief doesn't match reality.
• Build the networking habits a manager role can lean on for years.
• Surface risks early, loudly, and with a proposed fix attached.
