Overview

Position: Facilities Manager
Department: Maintenance
Availability: Immediate
Schedule: Full Time - Monday to Friday (7am to 3pm)
Reporting Relationship: State Coordinators
Salary Grade: 75; Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

The Facilities Manager handles building and equipment repairs as needed; supervises outside contractors such as HVAC mechanics, electricians, plumbers, and alarm system technicians; assists with seasonal projects (e.g., toy shop setup), emergency cleanup, and janitorial work. Drives SA vehicles to pick up tools, supplies, and equipment.

Qualifications

Duties Include:

  • Coordinate janitorial staff and duties around the facility.
  • Maintain the exterior of the building and grounds, including grass cutting, weed trimming, snow shoveling, and spreading ice melt chemicals.
  • Evaluate the condition of the facility, identify problems, and perform repairs or clean-up; determine action plans and advise the State Coordinator on vendor work.
  • Respond promptly to fire, security, and life safety system alerts.
  • Ensure high efficiency in facility operations.
  • Monitor utilities and systems daily.
  • Perform tasks such as carpeting, tile work, drywall, painting, and minor mechanical, plumbing, electrical work.
  • Manage and oversee outside contractors for HVAC, boiler, fire panel, and security systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of warranties, maintenance, service contracts, and inspections.
  • Prioritize unscheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Operate machinery, climb ladders, replace bulbs, and perform emergency signage work.
  • Unload and stock deliveries; maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the State Coordinator to ensure safe, efficient operations of Salvation Army programs in Delaware.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and leadership in janitorial and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and operate cleaning equipment (buffer, vacuum, mop, shovel, lawn mower).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • Ability to obtain required clearances under the Child Protection Act.
  • Understanding and appreciation of The Salvation Army's mission.
