Job summary

Omaha Catholic Schools Consortium Office is seeking a Facilities Manager to coordinate day-to-day operations across the consortium's six schools. You will plan maintenance, manage capital projects, supervise staff, and ensure safety compliance in collaboration with parish leadership and contractors.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will coordinate bids, vendor services, and schedule preventive maintenance while driving efficiency and consistent standards across campuses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum five years progressively responsible experience in facilities management, maintenance, construction, or building operations.
  • Experience supervising maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Experience managing vendor contracts and capital projects.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and facility management software preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Facilities Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day facilities operations, maintenance planning, capital improvement projects, safety compliance, and vendor services for the Omaha Catholic School Consortium and its six schools. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position works collaboratively with school principals, parish leadership, maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained learning environments.

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Facilities Manager supports school maintenance staff in planning and implementing facility maintenance and capital improvement needs. This position serves as the primary point of coordination for facilities-related matters, helping reduce the day-to-day facilities coordination responsibilities of school principals while ensuring they remain informed of project priorities, progress, and facility needs. The Facilities Manager also identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, standardize facilities processes, and leverage shared resources across the Consortium's schools.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day facilities maintenance and repair activities across all Consortium schools in collaboration with school principals, parish leadership, and maintenance staff.
  • Support school maintenance staff in planning and implementing maintenance, repair, and capital improvement projects.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance, repair, safety, and capital improvement needs.
  • Develop and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules with school maintenance staff.
  • Monitor facility conditions and recommend improvements to the Director of Operations.
  • Solicit competitive bids and coordinate contractors and service providers for maintenance, repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain preferred vendor and contractor relationships.
  • Coordinate service agreements related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, snow removal, security systems, and other facility services.
  • Assist the Director of Operations in planning and implementing capital improvement and renovation projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules with school principals, parish representatives, contractors, and vendors.
  • Conduct annual building condition assessments and provide recommendations for maintenance and capital improvements.
  • Assist in developing long-term facilities maintenance and capital improvement plans.
  • Coordinate the annual Catholic Mutual safety audit and monitor completion of corrective actions.
  • Ensure facilities comply with applicable federal, state, local, diocesan, and insurance safety regulations.
  • Maintain emergency response procedures in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Monitor compliance with building codes, environmental requirements, and maintenance standards.

Education and Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
