Job summary

Miller Johnson in Grand Rapids is seeking a Facilitates Manager to lead facilities operations, workplace safety, security, and project delivery across the firm's offices. You will oversee daily building operations, manage vendor relationships, and drive ongoing improvements to keep spaces safe, efficient, and well-maintained.

This hands-on role requires a proactive leader with 5–10 years of facilities management experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate renovations,

Qualifications

  • Degree in facilities management or related field is required or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of facilities management experience in a professional environment.
  • Experience with vendor management, maintenance programs, and facilities budgets.
  • Experience with office renovations, relocations, or buildouts preferred.
  • Familiarity with physical security, access control, and emergency preparedness.

Job description

Miller Johnson is looking for a Facilitates Manager based in our Grand Rapids Office. This is a great opportunity for someone wants to take lead on facilities operations, workplace safety, physical security, emergency preparedness, vendor relationships, and facilities projects across the firm's office locations. This role will also administer building security, access control, and related procedures.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience managing facilities in a professional environment. They are a proactive, hands-on professional who takes pride in creating a safe, efficient, and well-maintained workplace environment. They have strong experience overseeing building operations, vendor relationships, preventative maintenance programs, and facility-related projects. They are highly organized, responsive, and able to balance multiple priorities while ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly.

What You Will Do

As the Facilitates Manager, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day facilities operations across all office locations. Visit offices regularly to identify and address facilities’ needs.
  • Develop and maintain facilities procedures, standards, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, maintenance activities, service requests, and facility projects.
  • Assist with facilities budgeting, capital planning, forecasting, annual planning, and reporting.
  • Support space planning and projects, including tracking project schedules, budgets, and key milestones
  • Maintain facilities records and project documentation.
  • Perform or coordinate minor facilities tasks as needed.
  • Administer building security, access control, and related procedures.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and life-safety equipment.
  • Serve as the primary contact for facility, safety, security, and emergency incidents, including after-hours response as needed.
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Five to ten years of experience in facilities management, building operations, property management, workplace operations, or a related field.
  • Experience managing vendors, maintenance programs, and facilities budgets.
  • Experience supporting office renovations, relocations, and buildouts preferred.
  • Experience with physical security, access control, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, or related programs preferred.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services firm preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between office locations as needed.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when responding to operational issues, emergencies, and changing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships across the firm and with external partners.
