Job Summary

Performs maintenance, repair, remodeling, and general construction of City buildings, facilities, and components.

This position works both indoors and outdoors, performing necessary construction and repair work, with exposure to weather elements, hazards of hand and power tools, and fumes from construction materials.

Environmental and Physical Factors

The role involves working indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather, hazards from tools, and fumes. It requires heavy physical work, including working on scaffolding and ladders, lifting up to 95 pounds, and performing tasks like reaching, kneeling, and squatting.

Work Situation Factors

The position involves managing multiple demands, working to deadlines, occasional after-hours work, and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is essential. The role is subject to drug testing per regulations.

Additional Information

This is part of an Evergreen recruitment to fill current and future vacancies across all City Departments, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract positions. The initial review of applications will occur on March 3, 2025, and periodically thereafter.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transport and unload supplies and equipment; set up for functions; move furniture.
  • Repair and install fixtures, floors, doors, windows, and other building components.
  • Paint, varnish, plaster walls, lay bricks, pour cement, and perform roofing repairs.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and graffiti removal.
  • Conduct custodial duties and maintain cleaning records.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in construction and maintenance. A combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.

Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of construction principles, safety practices, record-keeping, customer service, and operational procedures. Ability to distinguish colors, prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, operate tools and equipment safely, and work independently or in a team.

Skills include operating hand and power tools, managing assignments, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
