- Position Title: Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Technician
- Division: Recreation & Facilities
- Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Coordinators
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time
- Pay Range: Starting at $15.00/hr
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to perform labor functions to ensure that our facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard. Duties include facility maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair and installation tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform manual work tasks related to repair and preventative maintenance of park grounds, recreation facilities, and equipment, including traveling to various locations.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
- Use computer or mobile devices to monitor work order software and enter new work orders.
- Remove snow from walkways and apply salt using supplied equipment.
- Use safety equipment during maintenance tasks.
- Monitor safety of parks, facilities, equipment, and environment; report issues.
- Manage inventory levels; initiate requests for supplies; research equipment purchases.
- Perform general cleaning and basic maintenance; trash removal.
- Enforce park rules, regulations, and policies.
- Support special events as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Operate equipment and tools for maintenance, including utility vehicles, power tools, lifts, snow equipment, and hand tools.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures and supplies.
- Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Good judgment and decision-making.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Physical ability to exert heavy effort, including climbing, lifting (20-50 pounds regularly, up to 75-100 pounds occasionally), and exposure to environmental conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- At least 1 year of related experience or equivalent training.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and insurability.
- Preferred experience in electrical, HVAC, or plumbing trades.
- Ability to complete ongoing education as required.
