Job summary

Fairlane Gardens Nursing and Rehab in Reading, PA is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our team. You will perform maintenance and repair tasks to keep the facility safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include repairing facilities, basic plumbing and electrical work, moving furniture, replacing bulbs, and supporting the Preventative Maintenance Program. Weekend and holiday on-call tasks are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in maintenance or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with cleaning materials, tools, and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facility structures, including walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, windows, and mirrors.
• Perform light grounds maintenance: cutting, trimming, sweeping, and policing parking areas and driveways.
• Follow maintenance schedules and supervisor instructions in accordance with established policies.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, mechanical equipment, and other facility needs.
• Move and arrange furniture as necessary to complete assignments.
• Replace light bulbs and maintain operational safety, including exit lights and overhead lighting.
• Assist with the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure proper functioning of machinery and equipment.
• Coordinate daily maintenance tasks with nursing services, especially in resident areas.
• Respond to unscheduled or emergency maintenance tasks, including on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays.
