Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Urbandale, IA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform a range of maintenance tasks to keep the facility safe and functional for residents and staff. This full-time role offers hands-on work in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance, with opportunities to support preventative maintenance and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, building trades, or related field.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general building maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facility structures (walls, doors, ceilings, windows, flooring, baseboards).
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical systems.
• Assist with light grounds maintenance (mowing, trimming, sweeping, parking lots, sidewalks).
• Replace light bulbs and maintain emergency/exit lighting.
• Support preventative maintenance for safe operation of equipment.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
• Coordinate maintenance work with nursing staff when in resident care areas.
• Respond to routine, urgent, and emergency maintenance requests.
• Participate in on-call rotations for weekends and holidays.
• Follow safety policies and schedules.
