Job summary

County of San Juan (NM) seeks a skilled Building Maintenance worker to repair and maintain county detention facilities. Duties include plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, welding, landscaping, and concrete work, with flexibility to work from plans or blueprints.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of maintenance experience; a NM driver’s license is required or obtainable within six months. Expect night/weekend/overtime shifts in an outdoor/indoor setting.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in building maintenance.
Must have valid NM Driver's license or obtain within six months of employment.
Work is performed in office and outdoor environments; exposure to wet, loud and extreme conditions.
Full-time, nights, weekends, holidays with rotating overtime; may include religious holidays.
Experience using ERP systems as required by County operations.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain county facilities and equipment; work independently or on a crew.
Perform plumbing, painting, woodwork, flooring, construction, welding, finishing and concrete tasks.
Participate in remodeling and small construction projects using plans and blueprints.
Inspect mechanical equipment and make necessary repairs.
Support grounds crew and maintain cleanliness of buildings and grounds.
Perform custodial duties and routine inspections for preventative maintenance.
Operate vehicles and equipment such as backhoe, water truck, bobcat and forklift.
