Job summary

The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, AR is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the Engineering Service. The role covers carpentry, electrical, mechanical and related duties to maintain buildings, grounds and utilities within the hospital environment.

Under supervision of Engineering Service Leadership, you will perform repairs in diverse spaces, work from ladders or lifts, and ensure safety while handling tools.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties described.
• Credit for qualifying volunteer experience may be considered.
• Applicants will be evaluated under the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Responsibilities

• Painting and refinishing furniture and fixtures (wood and metal).
• Constructing and repairing structural items (frames, walls, stairs, trim).
• Installing and repairing utility systems and equipment (sewage, water, gas).
• Installing roofs and repairing sheathing, boards, beams.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 07:00am - 3:30pm.
• Work is performed in hospital environments, indoors and outdoors, under challenging conditions.
