Job summary

City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to support City buildings, facilities, parks and equipment. Under general supervision, you will perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks, including electrical, HVAC, painting, plumbing, and carpentry, and assist with repairs and preventive maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and five years of progressive maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Five years' progressively responsible maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience with electrical wiring, lighting, and HVAC systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and install various items for City buildings, facilities, parks, and equipment.
• Maintain, repair, and install electrical wiring and lighting circuits; troubleshoot and replace ballasts, tubes, bulbs.
• Diagnose, repair and maintain heating and ventilation equipment and air conditioning systems.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and apply protective finishes.
• Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, heating and drainage.
• Maintain concrete and flooring such as wood, linoleum, carpet or tile.
• Repair or replace roofing; obtain quotes for out-of-scope services.
• Maintain maintenance logs and asset management; collaborate with contractors and City staff.
