Job summary

STAR, Inc. in Norwalk, CT is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep day program and residential locations safe, functional, and well‑maintained. The role reports to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance and includes preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and support for facility projects.

The position is full‑time (40 hours/week) with occasional early mornings or evenings; a valid driver’s license is required. STAR, Inc.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction, or related field.
• Basic knowledge and hands-on skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building repairs.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
• Experience in nonprofit/healthcare/residential environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect building systems, life safety equipment, and perform general repairs and maintenance.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and assist with facility-related projects.
• Respond to maintenance concerns and emergencies to maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain records related to inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
