Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to handle routine, preventative, and general maintenance needs across STAR's day program and residential locations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as part of a maintenance or facilities team and possess the practical skills necessary to troubleshoot and complete a variety of building maintenance tasks.

A Day in the Life of a Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician helps keep STAR's buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained for the individuals we support and our employees. Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, this position performs preventative maintenance, conducts inspections, completes repairs, and assists with facility-related projects at various agency locations.

The technician will respond to maintenance concerns and facility emergencies, recognize potential safety hazards, and take appropriate action to help maintain a clean, secure, and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include inspecting building systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other life safety equipment; performing general repairs and maintenance; and supporting compliance with OSHA standards, DDS regulations, and other applicable health and safety requirements. The position will also assist with maintaining accurate records related to inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and hands-on skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform physical tasks that may include bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or residential environment is a plus, but not required.
Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to adjust the schedule based on operational needs.

Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be necessary to address facility emergencies or complete maintenance projects while minimizing interruptions to agency programs and services.

Salary: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
