Job summary

Delaware County is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious General Maintenance Worker II to support maintenance, repair, and operation of County-owned facilities. The role involves routine building maintenance, grounds work, and emergency response, primarily at the Government Center and Courthouse Complex in Media, PA, with potential dispersion to other County campuses.

The position supports Maintenance Supervisors and journeyman staff, requiring basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of building maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of commercial building maintenance practices.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communications.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel throughout the County and municipalities and navigate buildings and sites.
• Ability to pass background investigations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on County buildings and equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs in carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, ceilings, doors, and windows.
• Assist with basic plumbing and electrical maintenance within training scope.
• Support preventive maintenance and minor repairs of HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, and building automation controls.
• Operate landscaping equipment and perform grounds maintenance.
• Assist with snow and ice removal and emergency response as needed.
• Safely operate tools and County-owned vehicles; follow OSHA and safety policies.
