Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology is hiring a Building Maintenance Technician II on campus in Rochester, NY. The role performs skilled trades and general repairs across campus facilities, focusing on prompt, safe, and cost-conscious solutions.

You will inspect, plan, and execute maintenance tasks, coordinate with supervisors for projects and vendor oversight, and ensure building systems are kept in top condition. On‑site responsibilities require basic trade skills and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of related experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides skilled trade services and performs general repairs to address building maintenance issues (plumbing, carpentry, doors/hardware, painting, drywall, windows, roofing, masonry, banners, tile work, furniture repair).
• Assess problems, estimate time and cost, and choose the best course of action (in‑house or contract) to complete repairs.
• Inspects and maintains building systems including plumbing, doors/hardware, glazing, roofing, furniture, fountains, and pool systems.
• Assists supervisor in coordinating maintenance projects including planning, scheduling, and contract/vendor oversight.
• Responds promptly to urgent maintenance issues, directs supporting departments, and notifies appropriate personnel.
