Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking a Plant Engineering Technician I to perform daily rounds on campus capital equipment and quickly respond to service calls across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems. The role emphasizes troubleshooting with MEP drawings, water treatment, and preventive maintenance to ensure reliable campus operations.

Associate's degree in a related field.
Knowledge of web-based Building Management Systems.
Ability to safely operate large facilities equipment.
Willingness to work B-Shift (Tue-Sat) 3 PM–11:30 PM.

Responsibilities

Perform daily rounds on capital equipment and report deviations.
Respond to campus service calls (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, doors, alarms).
Troubleshoot using MEP drawings to verify system operation.
Conduct water treatment testing for cooling towers and boilers; adjust chemicals.
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and complete repairs.
Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, gensets, and related systems.
Document maintenance activities and communicate with engineers and management.
