Bexar County is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to perform routine repairs and maintenance of building equipment, machinery, and facility grounds across county facilities. This entry-level role sits in the Facilities Maintenance family with a defined career path from I to IV.

The position requires High School diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience, a valid Texas driver's license, and willingness to work rotating shifts and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED with two years’ experience in commercial building equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of commercial building equipment repairs including plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical fundamentals; safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains building equipment and machinery.
• Performs basic plumbing troubleshooting including fixture repairs and installation.
• Assists in construction, remodeling, and renovation work.
• Performs basic carpentry, concrete and masonry repairs.
• Repairs commercial laundry and kitchen fixtures and appliances.
• Records readings from gauges and reports discrepancies.
• Maintains documentation of building inspections and readings.
• Observes and reports security issues.
