Job summary

The City of Greer is accepting applications for a Facilities Maintenance Worker I in the Facilities Maintenance Department. The role involves general maintenance across electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction tasks within city facilities.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of labor experience, and an OSHA10 or higher certification or be able to obtain within 6 months. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of labor work experience.
• OSHA10 or higher certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction; or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Performs general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction repairs.
• Paints, plasters, and repairs to walls, doors, etc.
• Monitors A/C and services as needed.
• Completes work orders in Cartegraph and similar software; asks for help when tasks are too complicated or heavy.
• Assists in coordinating third-party contractor support as needed.
• Drives and operates department vehicles requiring a driver's license; reviews maintenance records and reports.
• Familiarizes with city permitting procedures and coordinates contractor activities.
• Uses hand and power tools and office equipment in daily duties.
