Job summary

The University of Alabama in Huntsville seeks a Maintenance Worker to join the Facilities & Operations team. This role performs general maintenance on university buildings, repairs furniture, replaces ceilings and glass, maintains floors, installs wall hangings, and conducts preventive maintenance and safety tasks.

Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years in the building trades, with a valid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years of direct experience in building trades or equivalent combination of trade school training and direct work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance across university facilities.
• Repair classroom furniture and fixtures.
• Replace ceiling tiles, glass, lighting, and door hardware.
• Repair or replace flooring (tile, carpet, LVP, baseboard).
• Install and hang wall items (whiteboards, bulletin boards, TVs).
• Conduct routine maintenance; painting and cleanup of work areas.
• Perform preventive maintenance on seating, bleachers, doors, roofs.
• Assist with safety training and ensure compliance with rules.
