Job summary

Allen County is hiring a Utility Specialist to perform maintenance on air handling units, boilers, pumps, and related equipment across county buildings. The role involves basic electrical and plumbing work, plus on-call rotations to respond to after-hours maintenance needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, boiler certification, and a valid driver’s license. Experience with water softeners and HVAC systems is preferred in a hands-on maintenance environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License to travel to county buildings.
• Boiler Certification.
• Knowledge of water softeners and how to test them.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical work, boilers and HVAC components.
• Ability to operate basic tools and equipment listed in job task descriptions.
• Must pass a Federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on air handling units, boilers, and related equipment.
• Repair plumbing, electrical and control systems as needed.
• Maintain water softeners, heaters, air conditioners, and pumps; replace parts.
• Travel to other county buildings to complete maintenance tasks.
• Respond to after-hours calls; participate in on-call rotation.
• Maintain and inspect pumps, motors, and boilers; ensure safe operation.
