Job summary

Allen County is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Allen County Juvenile Center and related facilities. Under the Facilities Director, you will perform general repair and maintenance tasks across multiple sites, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems.

This non-exempt, at-will role requires hands-on skills, OSHA certification, and a valid driver's license, with on-site hours Monday to Friday and occasional on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Specialized training beyond high school in electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing fields.
• At least one year of related maintenance experience.
• Valid Driver’s license to operate county owned vehicles.
• OSHA certification and knowledge of safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical components and equipment in public areas and detention facility.
• Toubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures across the facility.
• Maintains HVAC systems, belts, motors, filters and evaporators.
• Maintains security systems: cameras, intercoms, door controls and locks.
• Repairs structures, carpentry, painting and remodeling of ceilings, walls, and floors.
• Maintains grounds at multiple locations including snow removal.
• Cleans and sanitizes high-traffic areas; removes trash.
• Operates welders for metal repairs as needed.
• Performs other duties and overtime as required.
