Job summary

BART in Oakland is seeking a skilled Buildings Worker to maintain and improve facilities across its network. You will take ownership of assignments from start to finish, performing carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and metal work as needed.

This role requires independence, reliability, and the ability to work across trades in a fast-paced environment, with focus on safety, quality workmanship, and serving riders and staff.

Qualifications

• Ownership of field assignments from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Site assessment and practical problem solving for repair/maintenance.
• Proactive identification of issues to prevent escalation.
• Strong safety focus and adherence to protocols in active environments.
• Collaborate with Foreworkers and other trades for coordinated field operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry tasks across stations and facilities.
• Inspect and repair masonry, concrete, and related structures.
• Install and repair plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Maintain and operate district tools and equipment; read blueprints.
• Load and unload materials; drive to job sites as needed.
