Job summary

Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance and repair across the facility to ensure safe, efficient operations. The role supports our campus-based living options, including assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services, and contributes to a culture of excellence.

The position requires at least 1 year of building maintenance experience, basic English literacy, and the ability to work with a range of trades.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old with ability to read, write and speak English.
• Formal vocational training or trade apprenticeship program preferred but not required.
• A minimum of 1 year building maintenance work experience.
• Completion of a background check; may include TB test, drug screen, and/or fingerprinting per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed.
• Prepare and organize materials and equipment before starting a task.
• Report equipment/items to supervisor that need repair immediately.
• Respond to occasional building emergencies as needed by the supervisor.
• Report all incidents/accidents to supervisor.
• Perform daily rounds and check of various systems as assigned, including related record keeping.
• Other duties as assigned.
