Job summary

COPE Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Assistant responsible for general upkeep of facilities and vehicle maintenance under supervision. The role requires at least 1 year of related experience and a valid AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record.

The position emphasizes safety, cost-efficient repairs, and coordination of upkeep for facilities and agency vehicles, with background checks and pre-employment drug screen as standard requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in general building and vehicle maintenance.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic utility systems (coolers, A/C, heaters) and electrical/plumbing.
  • Ability to interact with populations with mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to COPE facilities maintenance requests in a timely, cost-efficient manner.
  • Perform basic utility and systems repairs or coordinate them.
  • Purchase quality repair supplies in a cost-effective way.
  • Assist in coordinating vehicle upkeep.
  • Assist in transporting vehicles to repair shops when necessary.
  • Assist in moving agency programs, staff and client items to and from agency property.
  • Perform indoor and outdoor cleanup around buildings.
  • Turnover apartments.
