Job summary

New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service seeks a Maintenance Assistant to perform semi-skilled maintenance across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. You will address problems, supervise subordinates when needed, and report to supervision as required.

The role requires reading blueprints, safe operation of tools, and ability to work outside in various conditions. Prior experience or a two-year technical degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time maintenance or mechanical experience under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or other appropriate supervisor.
• Completion of an appropriate two-year technical school.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to read and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry and other facilities services.
• Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, snow/ice removal and trash removal.
• Operate and maintain tools, machinery and equipment required for craft.
• Troubleshoot facility or equipment problems and resolve concerns timely.
• May supervise subordinates to accomplish tasks.
