The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking Maintenance Assistants to perform semiskilled maintenance and repair on structures and equipment under supervision. You will operate light equipment and a range of hand and power tools, and assist in masonry, carpentry, and electrical tasks across state facilities.

Position involves maintenance at public use sites, compliance with safety rules, and potential overtime or travel.

Formación

• Two years of full-time maintenance or mechanical experience under supervision, or completion of a two-year technical school program.
• NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math, 45 hours of technical communications, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading.

Responsabilidades

• Operate light equipment such as power mowers, chain saws, drills, and power saws.
• Use power and hand tools including saws, hammers, drills, sanders, and stationary power tools.
• Assist construction trades including masonry, carpentry, and electrical.
• Support Dock Building and maintenance of public use sites (mowing, trash pickup, signage).
