Job summary

The New York State Office of Mental Health is seeking a Trades General to perform journey-level work across various trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. You may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation and construction tasks as required.

Candidates should have extensive experience in trade-related crafts, knowledge of safety standards, and the ability to plan, diagnose, and read plans.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journeyman; apprenticeship-style training acceptable year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level work in one trade and skilled work in others for facility repair and maintenance.
• Supervise maintenance, repair, installation and construction activities as needed.
• Provide field supervision to staff engaged in facility maintenance and construction.
• Follow project plans, schedules and written/oral instructions.
• Work independently, perform moderate to heavy manual labor, and operate ladders/scaffolds.
