Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago is seeking a Maintenance Employee to perform daily facility walkthroughs, address safety and housekeeping concerns, and run preventive maintenance across school and parish buildings.

Responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, completing repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, boiler checks), and managing work orders. HS diploma or GED and English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak the English language.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Manual dexterity and coordination are sufficient to handle various tools and equipment.
• Prior experience in the maintenance field.
• High School graduate or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Completes daily walkthrough facilities to identify safety concerns, housekeeping issues, and general building maintenance concerns.
• Complete daily exterior check for debris, hazards, etc. and reports anything that may need additional attention.
• Maintains overall building maintenance schedules for contract related items (Elevator, fire/alarm system, HVAC, life safety equipment, etc.).
• Assists in maintaining work order system at school and parish and communicates completion to requestor.
• Meets outside contractors for repair/maintenance and informs Director of Operations and Maintenance Supervisor of status.
• Performs simple repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical) and logs equipment repairs.
• Responsible for spot salting/shoveling of entrances for events.
• Ad hoc maintenance of grounds not covered by landscaping contract.
• May be assigned other tasks consistent with duties.
