Job summary

City of Columbia seeks a maintenance worker to perform routine tasks maintaining City facilities, equipment, and grounds. You will clean, inspect for hazards, setup rooms for events, and assist with basic repairs.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months related experience, and a valid driver's license. Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and operation of power tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED, plus 1–3 months related experience.
• Ability to use common maintenance tools safely.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, common areas, restrooms, and offices; restock supplies.
• Set up rooms for events and check facilities for hazards.
• Perform routine maintenance: painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC tasks.
• Replace filters, bulbs, and fixtures; minor repairs to lighting and fixtures.
• Mow lawns, trim shrubs, and landscape as needed.
• Set up and remove folding tables/chairs for community events; assist at events.
• Report major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilation equipment.
