Job summary

The Town of Ashland seeks a Maintenance Technician to oversee the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of Town facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment, including monitoring HVAC systems and inventory for town properties.

Primary duties include custodial and maintenance tasks: responding to work orders, performing cleaning, snow removal, minor repairs, and assisting with contractor oversight and inspections.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years of experience in maintenance or custodial work.
• Fluent English: able to speak, read, and write.
• Knowledge of cleaning, repair, and basic maintenance of municipal facilities and grounds.
• Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders and assess whether tasks can be completed in-house or by contractors.
• Perform custodial and light maintenance tasks including cleaning, snow removal, minor repairs, and painting as needed.
• Assist with coordinating contractor work, inspections, and safety/equipment maintenance.
• Stock and deliver supplies; manage inventory and coordinate with supervisors.
• Prepare facilities for meetings and events and ensure proper setup and equipment.
