Job summary

The Town of Ashland seeks qualified candidates for the Light Equipment Operator position in the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. The role focuses on construction and maintenance of municipal roadways under the supervision of the Working Foreman.

Responsibilities include operating vehicles and equipment, repairing streets and drainage, and performing preventative maintenance while adhering to safety procedures. Must be available for snow operations and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain Massachusetts CDL Class B permit within 6 months of employment and full license within 1 year.
• Hoisting Engineer with a 2A, 1C endorsement within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Drive or operate vehicles and equipment for construction and maintenance.
• Repair streets, sidewalks, signs, fences, drainage infrastructure.
• Work with light engine equipment and hand tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Available for snow operations and emergencies as needed.
• Assist other departments as required.
• Follow safety procedures and directions from the Working Foreman.
