Job summary

Nisqually Indian Tribe is seeking a custodial/maintenance worker to support government facilities and properties. The role covers custodial tasks, basic maintenance, and groundskeeping, with emphasis on confidentiality and professional conduct.

Strong communication and customer service are required, and occasional extended hours may be needed to meet project deadlines. The position involves indoor and outdoor work, and may require exposure to weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent within the first year of employment.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • A valid Washington State Driver's license and driving record meeting Nisqually Tribal requirements within the first year.
  • Experience performing custodial or maintenance duties.
  • Knowledge of Nisqually Indian Tribe history, customs, traditions, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, including changing light bulbs and addressing minor plumbing issues.
  • Inspect for pests, structural damage, and equipment malfunctions; report findings.
  • Paint interior and exterior of facilities and structures as needed.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other repair projects.
  • Vacuum carpets; sweep, mop, dust, wax, buff, and strip floors.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and common areas; restock supplies.
  • Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Empty and sanitize garbage cans and ashtrays; manage recycling and waste disposal.
  • Wash windows, glass doors, and other surfaces.
  • Assist with setup, teardown, and preparation for events and meetings.
  • Deliver, move, and assemble office furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Mow lawns, water plants, and perform routine weeding and pruning.
  • Maintain landscaping features and remove exterior debris.
  • Clean parking lots and walkways; collect and dispose of exterior trash.
  • Perform basic repairs and routine servicing of maintenance tools and equipment.
