Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor/Manager to coordinate and supervise shop personnel performing trade-related and maintenance work for district facilities. You will review work orders and schedule tasks to ensure planned, prioritized, and scheduled work aligns with DPS standards.

The role emphasizes cost awareness, contract oversight, safety, and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Eight (8) years journeyman or equivalent preferred in a field related for the assignment.
• Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Experience with cost estimating, blueprint reading, specifications, and personnel management.
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, CMMS and EMPAC.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License and insurability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders; plan, prioritize and schedule system maintenance, repair or installation work.
• Inspect, evaluate and monitor shop resource utilization; ensure quality and maintainability.
• Supervise and inspect work by contracted vendors and contractors.
• Monitor material and equipment orders; ensure cost-effective methods and corrective actions.
• Define specifications for contract work; comply with standards.
• Coordinate with other District departments and shops on joint projects.
• Maintain safe working conditions and monitor injuries.
• Review invoices and requisitions; follow budget procedures.
• Purchase non-stock items and special equipment for work orders.
• Provide administrative support for personnel data and documentation.
• Conduct safety and preventive maintenance inspections and report hazards.
• Acquire permits; review blueprints and plans for compliance.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 as scheduled.
• Coordinate district response to facility emergencies.
• Prepare and conduct performance evaluations; provide training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
