Job summary

BRC is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance staff and ensure the safety, upkeep, and reliable operation of the Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan facilities. You will coordinate repairs, supervise contractors, and participate in fire safety duties for a large urban housing program.

The role requires hands-on skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and preventative maintenance of HVAC and water systems, plus strong English communication and supervisory

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years experience in building maintenance; trades experience helpful.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Ability to use independent discretion and judgement.
• Certificate of fitness for Fire Safety Director.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned maintenance staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility.
• Make repairs requiring carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical.
• Preventative maintenance of cooling/heating and domestic hot water systems.
• Ensure periodic maintenance and inspection of elevators, sprinkler systems, fire alarm system and fire extinguishers is performed and documented.
• Arrange for and oversee outside contractors as directed.
• Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies.
• Move furniture as needed.
• Be a member of the fire safety team.
• Participate in fire drills.
• On call for emergencies, may require early/late hours.
• Related duties as assigned.
