Job summary

HELP USA is seeking an Assistant Supervisor/Mechanic at one of our facilities in New York. You will oversee the maintenance and repair of the physical plant, ensuring it is well maintained and safe for residents.

The role requires supervisory experience in building trades, ability to use maintenance tools, and knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems. A valid US driver's license is required; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience.
• Supervisory experience in building trades or maintenance.
• Ability to use tools and equipment for building physical plants.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing knowledge; HVAC certification or license preferred.
• Ability to read diagrams, shop drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Valid US driver’s license required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff, assigning and coordinating their work and following up on progress.
• Identify physical plant deficiencies and implement corrective action plans for repair or replacement.
• Train Porters to meet quality standards.
• Make repairs as needed.
• Adhere to OSHA compliance.
• Inventory and dispense materials and supplies.
