Job summary

Alachua County is seeking a maintenance supervisor responsible for skilled journeyman level work and supervising a team across HVAC, electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry for County facilities.

The role requires a high school or vocational diploma with three years journeyman experience or an equivalent mix of training and experience. A valid Florida driver license and pre-employment background screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational graduation plus three years journeyman level maintenance experience in carpentry, painting, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
• Applicant may be considered for trainee status if within six months of meeting min education/experience.
• Requires Florida driver license and motor vehicle record per county policy; MVR reviewed before employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates the activities of subordinate employees including determining work procedures and schedules; issuing instructions and assigning duties; reviewing work; conducting performance reviews.
• Performs skilled journeyman level work in HVAC, electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry.
• Maintains records of work performed, costs of repair, and pending projects.
• Prepares budget information for projects and facilities.
• Responds to emergencies and is available during nights, weekends and holidays.
• Carries and maintains company-provided phone and laptop; remains reachable outside normal hours.
