Alachua County is seeking a maintenance supervisor responsible for skilled journeyman level work and supervising a team across HVAC, electrical, painting, plumbing and carpentry for County facilities.
The role requires a high school or vocational diploma with three years journeyman experience or an equivalent mix of training and experience. A valid Florida driver license and pre-employment background screening are required.
Graduation from high school or vocational school and three years journeyman level experience in one or more phases of building/facility maintenance including carpentry, painting, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing experience; or any equivalent combination of directly related training or experience. Applicants within six months of meeting the minimum education/experience may be considered for trainee status.
A Valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy #6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment. If, in the past 24-month period, the applicants Motor Vehicle Record has more than three (3) moving traffic infractions or three (3) or more at fault motor vehicle accidents (or combination of both and /or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence) or is in violation of any standard mandated by Federal or State Law or Regulation, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen & physical examination and requires the successful completion of a criminal history background investigation prior to employment including finger printing and compliance with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements throughout the term of employment.
This is responsible supervisory work in the skilled and semi-skilled maintenance of County buildings, facilities, and grounds in the Facilities Management Department. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for working with and supervising semi-skilled and skilled journeyman level workers in all phases of building and grounds maintenance. Work is performed under the direction of a higher-level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.
