General Description

Under the direction of the Library Director, performs a variety of skilled duties in city-owned facilities, including HVAC and other mechanical systems. Supervises daily cleaning, custodial duties, and sanitizing of buildings. Additional duties may include painting, carpentry, minor electrical work, cement and tile masonry, drywall, or other recognized crafts for maintaining, repairing, or remodeling city-owned buildings and facilities.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduation from high school plus four (4) years of related employment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

• Valid Utah Driver License.
• On-call status required; must respond to emergency call-outs at any time, regardless of weather conditions.

Essential Duties

• Assist in operation and maintenance of mechanical systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam systems, automatic temperature control, and electrical systems.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors/vendors related to building maintenance.
• Assist with IT-related items like computers, printers, phones, and TVs related to building operations.
• Recommend purchases, implement cost-saving measures, develop budgets, and control inventory.
• Hire, train, supervise, and direct custodial staff and volunteers; create cleaning and maintenance schedules.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs; maintain records of maintenance schedules.
• Maintain facility MSDS sheets to meet safety guidelines.
• Maintain various flooring types, including carpeted, concrete, tile, laminate, and coatings.
• Manage equipment warranties and maintenance agreements as needed.
• Oversee annual cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Conduct safety checks regularly to ensure a safe environment.
• Assist with exterior maintenance and snow removal.
• Perform other related duties, including assisting with maintenance of other city facilities as needed.
