Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Maintenance II to install, repair, and build for multiple properties, ensuring safety, code compliance, and timely completion of projects.

Under Facilities Manager supervision, you will perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks, coordinate with other trades, and respond to emergencies while maintaining inventory and tools for reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of demonstrated maintenance construction experience required.
• Trade or Technical School Certificate in Construction or Mechanical Technology preferred; valid driver's license and insurability.
• Must know power tools, ability to construct buildings, repair drywall/paint, and perform electrical/plumbing/furnace repairs.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
• Builds items to modernize/rehab properties for safe, efficient unit use.
• Coordinates with administration and other trades to complete projects/work orders.
• Responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Performs residential rehab, new construction, and maintenance projects.
• Repairs plumbing, electrical components, and furnaces; unclogs lines.
• Performs rough/finished carpentry, painting, and exterior painting.
• Operates lawn equipment and snow removal; maintains vehicles and tools.
• Inspects units for safety and maintains preventive maintenance programs.
• Studies blueprints and uses materials accordingly; maintains inventory.
