Job summary

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking a Maintenance Worker to ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the Child Care Center.

Responsibilities include daily housekeeping, sanitation, and basic repairs across plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks. Applicants should have at least a high school diploma and 1 year of housekeeping experience, with preference for prior work in schools or licensed facilities for children.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year housekeeping experience.
• Experience in building repair/maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily housekeeping tasks (cleaning, sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming).
• Maintains carpets using extraction equipment and biohazard kits as required.
• Grounds keeping: mowing, trimming, leaf blowing, snow shoveling, ice removal.
• Performs routine plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs; clear stoppages; tile/reseal work.
• Completes monthly inspections of smoke detectors, emergency exits, and lighting.
• Oversees inventory of supplies and coordinates with vendors as needed.
