Job summary

City of Alvin seeks a journeyman-level maintenance technician to perform repairs on public buildings, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. You will handle diverse trades to keep facilities safe and functional, complying with established standards and safety rules.

Under direct supervision, you will perform tasks across building trades, often during nights, weekends or emergencies as required by city programs and events.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Class 'C' Driver's License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of experience in building trades and maintenance.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and emergencies.

Performs duties requiring functional skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, brick and concrete masonry, metal work, plastics, vinyl wall and floor coverings, dry wall, plaster, acoustical ceiling and wall treatments necessary in the maintenance of all buildings. This position may include service or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job during emergency situations for the benefit of the general public. Must be able to perform duties according to detailed instructions in strict adherence to prescribed standards, procedures and safety. Reports to Operations Manager.

Salary

Starting Salary $20.82 per hour.
