Job summary

SyRES Properties in Marin is seeking a Senior Director of Facilities to lead maintenance operations across a portfolio of multifamily properties. You will develop standards, SOPs, and capital plans while overseeing vendor contracts and on-site supervisors.

You will implement scalable systems, drive cost-efficiency, and mentor teams to achieve performance targets through data-driven decisions and rigorous inspections. Travel across CA, NV, WA, and OR is expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in multifamily property operations or facilities management.
• Minimum 10 years in supervisory/regional roles.
• Proven ability to lead cross-site operations and maintenance teams.
• Experience with SOP development and preventive maintenance planning.
• Strong contract and vendor management experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
• Proficient in maintenance management software and data-driven decisions.
• Willingness to travel regularly within CA, NV, WA, OR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a portfolio-wide maintenance operations plan.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance across multiple multifamily communities.
• Recruit, train, and mentor on-site maintenance supervisors and technicians; create professional development programs.
• Ensure consistent adherence to SOPs and regulatory compliance.
• Manage vendor and service contracts, including RFP processes, scope definition, and performance evaluation.
• Collaborate on annual maintenance budgets, capital improvement plans, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Conduct site visits and audits to evaluate staff performance, building systems, safety, and adherence to operational standards.
• Monitor KPIs related to work order completion, equipment uptime, energy use, resident satisfaction, and budget adherence.
