Job summary

City of Coral Springs is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support skilled trades in carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, and custodial tasks, ensuring facilities are well-kept.

The role involves cleaning, routine maintenance, tools handling, and operating basic equipment, with a focus on safety and reliable building upkeep. A high school diploma and Florida driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and working knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair or construction work.

Responsibilities

• Assist facilities maintenance workers in carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical and custodial repairs.
• Clean interior and exterior of buildings, machinery, equipment and grounds.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs such as painting, minor carpentry, changing light bulbs.
• Maintain cleanliness of offices, shops, storage and mechanical rooms.
• Hold and carry tools and materials for technicians.
• Operate electrical and gas-powered equipment including drills, saws, air compressors, pressure washers and leaf blowers.
• Operate motor vehicles to transport materials, supplies, and tools.
• Perform monthly maintenance checks of buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Perform cleaning and detailing of Facilities’ fleet vehicles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
