Job summary

ISS Facility Services / Guckenheimer in Chicago, IL seeks an Engineer I to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on building systems. You will respond to service requests, complete work orders, and help keep facilities safe, clean, and operational.

Ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years in commercial building maintenance. HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical knowledge, plus the ability to read manuals and blueprints, are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC systems, Plumbing systems, Electrical systems, Mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical instructions.
• Basic experience troubleshooting commercial building equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Troubleshoot basic building equipment and system issues.
• Complete general building repairs involving: Lighting, Doors, Ceilings, Flooring, Plumbing fixtures.
• Monitor building automation systems and report abnormal conditions or equipment concerns.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update work orders using the CMMS.
• Assist higher-level Engineers with larger repairs, maintenance activities, and projects.
• Maintain clean mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and workspaces.
• Participate in emergency response activities as needed.
