Job summary

The Lake Superior YMCA seeks a Senior Building Services Director to oversee maintenance across multiple locations in Superior, WI. You will manage facility and vehicle maintenance, supervise staff, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Travel to Camp Tall Pines and other facilities is required.

You will prepare budgets, lead preventive maintenance plans, and drive improvements while modeling the Y’s values and fostering inclusion in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• CPR, AED, First Aid certifications to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Certified Pool Operator required within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance/related experience; related field is preferred.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals; initiate process improvements.
• Experience with painting, cleaning equipment, chemicals, and use of related tools.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance staff across branch locations and ensure safety training.
• Coordinate facility and vehicle maintenance; plan preventative maintenance.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment comply with YMCA policies.
• Anticipate risks before actions and complete repairs promptly.
• Manage contractors, bids, and selection decisions.
• Provide coverage for building services operations at other locations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare budgets, balance sheets, and forecast maintenance expenditures.
• Develop capital project plans aligned with the YMCA strategic plan.
• Support equity and diversity initiatives within the workplace.
• Lead and support mission advancement and community engagement.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
• Implement decision-making frameworks and monitor progress.

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

CPR, AED, First Aid certifications

Certified Pool Operator
