Boston Public Library is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee all aspects of facilities services, including preventive and reactive maintenance, energy improvements, and emergency repairs. You will lead custodial, technical staff, and contractors, coordinating with library management and city departments to maintain an optimal building environment.

The role emphasizes planning, organizational leadership, performance coaching, and data‑driven decisions.

Formación

• At least five years of full‑time experience as Facilities Manager in commercial real estate.
• Substitutions for education/experience allowed as described in the listing.
• Customer‑focused with service excellence mindset.
• Understanding of HVAC, electrical, fire protection, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Strong management, leadership, and people management skills.
• Experience with process improvement and change management.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Ability to manage resources via planning, HR and financial management.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of facilities staff including custodial and MEP services.
• Manage service contracts, RFPs, payments, and contract pricing.
• Develop procedures, reports, schedules, and SOPs for efficiency and safety.
• Improve preventative maintenance programs to extend asset life.
• Respond quickly to emergencies to minimize disruption and risk.
• Create KPI frameworks and report facilities data for decision making.
• Maintain records and liaise with PMO, Landmarks Commission, and others.
• Coach and develop staff through HR processes and performance reviews.
• Ensure timely responses to library staff requests.
